The Queens Botanical Garden was filled with over 400 vibrant and exotic orchids during their exhibit, 'Taiwan: A World of Orchids'. We drew inspiration from all of the different shapes and colors of these beautiful flowers during my 'Orchid Embroidery Workshop'.
Students learned facts about orchids and used needle and thread to embroider their very own.
Did you know that there are over 25,000 species of orchid (vanilla being one of them)? I joked with my students and told them that no matter what colors they picked that they'd accurately embroider one of the 25,000!
This was a wonderful weekend filled with culture, art, and beautiful orchids.
